Running in Okinawa

This year’s event posed a competetive field in which many of Okinawa’s top runners were present. The best team this year was the Ginowan Track Friendship Association (宜野湾陸友会) which completed the 45 kilometer course in 2 hrs 35 min 8 sec. The Ginowan A team took 4 out of 9 area awards (区間賞), and finished two and a half minutes ahead of the runner-up Ishikawa Ants Club (石川アリンコクラブ).

Sunday, June 24, 2007- Camp Hansen will host it’s annual Reverse Sprint Triathlon. They call this a runner’s triathlon because the events are in reverse order- 5k run, 15k bike, 400m swim. Race plan – dominate the run, stay with the leaders on the bike, and don’t drown.
